For the keen golfers amongst you, the good news is that Sicily has plenty of courses offering the chance for you to play a round during your holiday. The island can actually boast five superb golf clubs.
Probably the most famous and luxurious of these is at the Verdura Golf Resort. This luxury golf club was designed by Kyle Phillips and actually boasts not one but two 18 hole championship courses as well as a smaller 9 hole course, all set in a stunning landscape of rolling hills. It also offers the chance to improve your golfing swing by enjoying a lesson with one of the experts.
However, if you’re looking to play on Sicily’s oldest golf course, then head to Il Picciolo instead. This 18 hole, par 71 course is a challenging course open all year round and situated on the slopes of Mount Etna. If you’re travelling with some non golfers, then the resort also boasts a luxury spa where others can enjoy a relaxing treatment whilst you’re out on the green.
Other options include the Donnafugata Golf Resort where there are two excellent courses on which to test your skills as well as the Disio Golf Resort which offers an 18 hole course as well as a driving range. This is a great option for families with plenty of other activities on offer including tennis and swimming.
And finally, we must not forget to mention the Le Saie Golf Resort, another championship golf course designed by Franco Piras. Enjoying views of Mount Etna, it’s another stunning setting to challenge yourself around its 18 holes or to test your skills on its pitching green and driving range. There is also a golf academy on site as well as swimming pools and tennis courts.
