Florence is a fantastic city and, moreover, is great city to walk around.
Grab a street map and plan your own route between tourist attractions. This has the benefit of allowing you to simply stop in one of the many cafes and watch the world go by when your feet get tired! Or if you prefer, there are a number of websites with suggested self guided walking routes in the city. Again, this gives you the freedom to stop as and when you please.
Alternatively, if you’re looking for something more formal, there are plenty of companies offering guided walking tours of the city. We work with a fantastic tour guide who lives in Florence. Just let us know what you are interested in and we can put you in touch with Silvia who will let you know what options are available to you.
For those who are interested in more serious walking, it’s easy to get out of the city and enjoy some hiking in the stunning Tuscan countryside. For further information about walking and hiking in rural Tuscany, please have a look at our guide to hiking in Tuscany.
