The nearest restaurant is actually on site! nnThis Lake Maggiore vacation rental is situated just across from a lakeside beach area which is very popular with the locals. The lake is wonderful to swim in and the waters are beautifully clear. The apartment is also within walking distance of a supermarket, cafes and gelateria.
Boat hire is available on site. But guests can also walk to the boat stop where you can catch one of the public boats that go to all the other towns and villages on the lake. Tennis courts and water sports hire are also within walking distance.
There is also a helpful tourist information office within the town if you need any information about what to see and do in the area.
A note from Jo
This Lake Maggiore vacation rental is one of the few 3 bedroom apartments within this lakeside complex and so gets snapped up very quickly! We love how it's so family friendly and that the bedrooms can be made up as either twins or doubles ensuring that guests have the flexibility that they need with regards sleeping arrangements. Just let us know in advance how you'd like the rooms prepared for you.
Jo was a good host. She answered all our questions quickly…. The flat is perfectly located and very close to the lake and some good restaurants. The staff from the reception helped a lot with planning boat tours and with all the questions we had!
We arrived back 10th August after a lovely week in Maccagno, the apartment was clean and tidy and had everything we needed. The only issue we would have is the pool and people placing towels on beds in the morning, and people leaving towel on their beds when they leave poolside at lunchtime, it is quite frustrating.
The pool area at the complex was perfect for our needs as my disabled nephew was able to swim / play safely in the shallow children’s pool without too much supervision, which gave us all a chance to relax. We would consider returning to Golfo Gabella again in the future.
There were lots of wows and smiles when we got into the cool spacious apartment it was ideally laid out for us and the beds were all made up. I thought that the bits and pieces left for us were really helpful (bin bags, washing up liquid, coffee, sugar). We couldn’t wait to see the view in the morning and we weren’t disappointed. I don’t know if it was because it was soooooo hot when we were there but the pool although quite bracing was lovely and refreshing and we used it everyday our 6 year old had the most fun we’ve seen her have for ages playing and jumping in etc. We always managed to get at least 2 sunbeds and a brolly. It was bliss lying there looking over the pool and the lake and up at the hills. The WIFI worked at poolside and I can’t tell you how happy that made my 15 year old daughter. The restaurant next to the pool was delicious not cheap but worth it. The Gabella pizzeria had nice views and was much more reasonably priced but got mad mad busy after 7.30. The supermarket had a little bit of everything that you need and took about 10 mins to walk to we had the best cherry ice cream in the world in a bar next to the bank. On Wednesday we took the ferry to Luino for the market the ferry is quite a walk away (particularly on the way home!!) we got the 11am there and pre booked onto the 16.45 back that made for quite a long day but we managed to find things to do. There seemed to be a lot of the same stalls repeated over and over again through the market but every now and again there was a little gem. We finally found the food section which was great. I think I mentioned to you on the Friday we went on a trip to Isola Bella and Isola Pescatore the boat picked us up just over the road from the swimming pool at 10.40am (the boat was from Cannobio and already pretty full). It was very very hot so they may have cut the time on each island down a little bit which to be honest we were grateful for but we’re so glad we went it was a wonderful trip and we were dropped back off just after 4. It was booked via the office and cost 25 euros each (cheaper that the ferry trip which takes much longer and involves the long walk before and after). We were out of the apartment at 10am on Sunday and the office was open so we dropped off the keys (they’d given us 2 extra sets for the week which was really helpful) and the lady (to my shame I don’t know her name) was brilliant with suggestions and directions for our day. We went to Laveno which was very pretty. So all in all we had a fantastic family holiday for 5 in a stunning place which probably cost us under 3k for everything. THANK YOU! If you have any other clients that fret as much as me or have any questions that you think I might be able to help with then I’d be happy to reassure them but you did a brilliant job of doing that for me and I’m very grateful it was everything you promised.
The apartment was lovely and exactly as advertised. it was very spacious and comfortable and we had everything we needed (with the possible exception of hairdryer). The location was great’,’ so near the train and ferry. I do however have a small gripe re the charge for the cleaning and bed linen. I think 130 was a little expensive on top of the cost of the apartment especially as there were only 3 of us. I know this was advertised in advance but I thought still worth mentioning. Also I had asked to have some water and milk left in the apartment as we were arriving late. We were charged 15 for 2 litres of water’,’ 1 litre of milk and a selection of tea and coffee. This was definitely not value for money even though it was convenient. I dealt with Olga on site and she was very pleasant and helpful so all in all I would recommend the apartment and would hope to return.
