This is a charming one bedroom Lake Lugano holiday rental positioned right on the lakeside in the pretty village of San Mamete, a lovely spot to enjoy a holiday on Lake Lugano.
This Lake Lugano holiday rental is on the ground floor of the building. The property enjoys amazing 180 degree views of Lake Lugano and the surrounding area from every single room. Because of the large windows making the most of the views, it is a lovely bright and light apartment.
It has a fully equipped kitchen, double bedroom, bathroom and open plan living and dining area. The living area has a sofa bed allowing the property to sleep up to 3 guests. This room is also equipped with A/C. Doors lead from the living room to a generous private balcony. This is furnished with a table and chairs. There is also space here for a couple of sun loungers for lazy days in the sun. It really is the perfect spot for an aperitif or to enjoy a romantic meal taking in the beauty of the lake waters and surrounding mountains. This is the largest balcony of any of the Lake Lugano apartments in this beautiful villa.
This Lake Lugano holiday rental is within an easy 5 minute walk of the ferry boat landing. The property also has satellite TV, a DVD player and DVD library and music system. There is no parking on site but guests have the option of paying the local cafe owner to park at his cafe for the duration of their stay. Or we can show you other places where you can leave your car on arrival.
This Lake Lugano holiday rental is less than a minutes walk from the centre of San Mamete where there are a choice of restaurants, cafes etc. It is also located about 5 minutes from the Swiss border and is a really convenient position for those who plan to do some sightseeing during their stay. It's also just an hour from Milan and 15 minutes from the affluent Swiss town of Lugano where there are a number of designer clothing stores and a famous casino. Just 30 minutes by car, you can be on the shores of Lake Como and the popular lakeside town of Menaggio.
A note from Jo
San Mamete is a charming and authentic lakeside village. The property may not have parking on site but this downside is more than made up for by the fact that you can walk to restaurants and shops. The lake views from the apartment are incredible and we think that the local property manager, Roxana, does an amazing job in taking care of guests during their stay.
Active communications by the host to make sure everything is alright. Local support was also available with kind and pleasant attitude. Overall, great experience and recommended! 🙂
Daniela met us to give us our key and a tour of the apartment. She was very detailed, informative and helpful. She took her time and made sure we had everything we needed. The apartment was immaculate and provided everything we needed in the kitchen. I’m very picky with beds, this one was very comfortable. The view from the balcony and bedroom window was dreamy. Just what we wanted and need to de-stress. We absolutely recommend this place and would return in a heartbeat. Also wanted to mention that Daniela went above and beyond in details. She found out that we were celebrating our anniversary, so she took it upon herself to get us a gift and had chocolates on our pillows. Overall, we had the best time. (Daniela in particular made the stay great. She made sure that any question we might have was already answered in the packet of information at the apartment and also she had maps and details about all local points of interest.)
I writing to you to tell you how much we enjoyed our stay in the apartment in San Mamete. Thank you for advising us about the choice of apartment and for the flexibility about the dates. On the website, it seemed to me that the other one was the more attractive but, of course, you were right. We spent some pleasant evenings on the balcony watching the spectacular sunsets and the emergence of the canopy of stars, to the point that we preferred to do a little food/wine shopping and prepare a simple meal, rather than going to the Stella d’Italia restaurant or to the Caffe Viaggiatore, each of which were very good in their own way. Daniela was great to deal with and I could practice my Italian with her. She went out of her way to help us with some difficulties we were having with the wifi and TV, even enlisting the help of her tech-savvy husband one evening. It was amusing, because I couldn’t access any TV stations in Italian, and Daniela told us that this was a first!. The area around San Mamete is full of surprises and there is plenty to do. By accident, we came upon a concert in Villa Fogazzaro Roi, a brass/wind quintet with soprano, which was a treat. I’m now reading Fogazzaro’s “Piccolo Mondo Antico”. We liked the fact that the area it is not over-run with tourists (which we are too, of course!). On the other hand, Lake Como is easily accessible. We came across a good restaurant near the access to the waterfall in Begna, Porlezza – Trattoria della Vigna. I’m sure that we will pay a return visit to San Mamete and Valsolda.
The apartment is reasonably equipped and has a balcony overlooking Lake Lucerne. The short walk to the village (3 minutes) is hazardous as there are no pavements and there are bends in the road, and therefore I would not recommend this apartment if you have a young child. That is my only reservation. The village has a small shop which sells an amazing variety of food at reasonable prices. This was our third stay in Apartment 6, and the main attraction is the wonderful view from the balcony, especially at night, and the fact that the Swiss border is so close.
Lovely place. Highly recommend. Thank you. It was beautiful.
