Given it’s natural beauty, the area forms the backdrop to many a film including, most recently, the 2004 blockbuster ‘A Good Woman’ as well as ‘The Talented Mr Ripley’. Not surprisingly though, the Amalfi coast is as popular among holidaymakers as film-makers!

The Amalfi Coast is a wonderful place for food lovers to visit, although you could probably argue that anywhere in Italy would be heaven for any food gourmet! Hopefully our dining guide will ensure that you sample some of the best food that the region has to offer in some of the best restaurants.
One of our favourite places to eat is in Sorrento. The Ristorante Museo Caruso is as passionate about its cuisine as it is about the famous opera singer, Enrico Caruso. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the food delicious. For more details, take a look at the restaurant's website.
There is not a massive selection of golf courses to choose from in this part of Italy. However, for those for whom a holiday would not be complete without a round of golf, there are hopefully enough options to keep you entertained!
The first to consider is the Mirabella Golf Club in Avellino. This is about 90 minutes drive from many of the most famous towns and villages along the Amalfi Coast. It's a nine hole course with plenty to challenge you, from streams to tall trees and from valleys to ridges and it's set in vineyards and olive groves. It's a par 31 course with a total length of 1800...
There are a number of museums on the Amalfi Coast which are worth visiting. In fact, with an extremely eclectic mix of museums on offer, there should certainly be something to meet everyone's tastes and interests whether it's art, history, nature or even transport.
You could easily argue that 2 of the biggest and best are the outdoor 'museums' of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Pompeii covers nearly 70 hectares of land. There is an incredible amount to see so do allow plenty of time to make sure you don't miss anything. And remember to wear sensible shoes, and to bring plenty of water and suncream...
The Amalfi Coast has plenty of interesting shops to satisfy the cravings of the shopaholics out there! Hopefully our guide will help you find the best outlet malls, designer boutiques and local markets.
Naples is well worth a trip if you fancy an afternoon browsing around the shops. Shops tend to be open from 9 in the morning until 1 o'clock, and then re-open again from 4 in the afternoon until 8 in the evening. Sales tend to follow the timings of those in the UK, with sales held in January and in mid July through to the middle of August. The main shopping street in the city is the Via Toledo....
For those looking to pamper themselves during their stay on the Amalfi Coast, there are a number of facilities offering relaxing spa treatments.
For the ultimate indulgence, the Monastero Santa Rosa spa offers both interior and exterior treatment rooms which can be enjoyed either in solitude or in the company of friends or loved ones. Inbetween treatments, guests can relax in the infinity pool, exercise at the alfresco gym, or lounge in one of the spa's cliff-side cabanas. I promise you, life won't get much better than this! Whilst the spa is part of the Monastero Santa Rosa hotel, non residents...

I'm sure it will come as no surprise that the Amalfi Coast offers holidaymakers a wide selection of watersports to enjoy.
Those looking to try their hand at scuba diving or snorkelling should head to the Villagio Nettuno. The diving school there offers PADI courses for beginners as well as a selection of wonderful dives for experienced divers. Whether you're looking for a night dive, a wreck dive or even an underwater photography course, all are included in the wide number of courses on offer. Even children can take part in activities. The 'Bubblemaker' courses at the school cater for children...
The Amalfi Coast has a fantastic weather climate. Of course, temperatures can get very hot during the peak Summer months of July and August. Average high temperatures peak at 29 degrees centigrade across these months. But for those who are looking for a holiday that combines plenty of lazy days in the sunshine topping up the tan with the opportunity to experience Italian culture and History, it's a superb place to visit.
If you're not restricted by school holidays and want to visit all the ancient sites during your visit, then you may want to consider travelling in late Spring (April / May /...

Amalfi Coast holidays offer plenty of options to keep the children entertained, whether they are toddlers or teenagers.
Children tend to learn about the Romans by aged 7 these days and so a trip to Pompeii will be a fantastic educational and interesting trip for them. It's really worth investing in a guide to bring the ruins to life. They will be able to inspire the children with stories of life in ancient Pompeii. Just one word of caution... For those with young children, it's worth remembering that the site can get very hot in peak Summer months. Remember to take plenty of water with you,...
Visitors are spoilt for choice when it comes to sightseeing on the Amalfi Coast. With a whole host of things to do and stunning Amalfi Coast sights to see and visit, there is plenty to enjoy during your stay.
The first glimpse of the area that holidaymakers tend to see is Naples, the primary city in this region of Italy. Naples is a bustling city and one which has received negative press in the past few years. However, don't be put off. Naples is the home of pizza, pasta and ice-cream and certainly the food on offer in the city is superb. At the heart of the city lies the Spaccanapoli and...
If you are keen walkers and hikers, the Amalfi Coast has numerous wonderful walks and trails to enjoy, each making the most of the stunning scenery that makes this area of Italy so special.
Probably the best time of year to visit if you are planning on some long walks during your trip would be in late Spring and early Autumn, when the weather tends not to be too hot but there is also the wonderful abundance of colour provided by the flowering plants.
The Sentiero degli Dei (Trail of the Gods) is probably the most famous of the walks in this area. It's arguably best tackled westwards if...
