There is not a massive selection of golf courses to choose from in this part of Italy. However, for those for whom a holiday would not be complete without a round of golf, there are hopefully enough options to keep you entertained!
The first to consider is the Mirabella Golf Club in Avellino. This is about 90 minutes drive from many of the most famous towns and villages along the Amalfi Coast. It’s a nine hole course with plenty to challenge you, from streams to tall trees and from valleys to ridges and it’s set in vineyards and olive groves. It’s a par 31 course with a total length of 1800 metres.
Nearer to the coast and arguably easier to access if you’re holidaying on the Amalfi Coast is the golf club at Salerno. Again, it’s a 9 hole course, also boasting a putting and chipping green and with instructors on hand to provide lessons if required.
Finally, to the other side of Naples and to the North along the coast is the Golf Club Volturno. For keen golfers, this may be a better option. It’s an 18 hole, par 71 course winding over an area of over 50 hectares. There is plenty to challenge even the most experienced golfer, particularly as the course is rich in dunes and water hazards. The first nine holes are set in the pine woods whilst the second nine are much more based on the more sandy ground beside the sea, thus creating variety. It’s also much more easily accessible, just 30 minutes drive from Naples.
