Villa Torre is a 5 bedroom Tuscany villa rental built in the first half of the 17th century by Ferdinand II of the Medici. It was originally a lookout tower, used by a small group of soldiers to guard against an enemy attack. Given its original use, it's perhaps not surprising that it enjoys terrific views over the Valtiberina and the Tuscan hills. The property was then extended in 1894 by the grandfather of the current owners, creating the property that we see today. Of course, since then this 5 bedroom Tuscany villa rental has been restored and modernised whilst still maintaining its original charm.
Inside, this 5 bedroom Tuscany villa rental measures approximately 250 square metres and is laid out over two floors.
On the ground floor, there is a well equipped kitchen, a beautiful open plan living and dining room with antique fireplace, a dining table seating 10 and comfortable sofas and chairs. There is also a small reading room.
On the first floor there are four bedrooms, all with wrought iron beds and with ensuite shower rooms. The first of the bedrooms is a double room whilst the remaining three can be laid out either as twin or double rooms. All the bedrooms have air conditioning. The furnishings throughout are simple and typical of the rustic Tuscan style with wood and wrought iron used extensively.
Enjoying a separate entrance to the main villa is the tower (torre). On the ground floor this is home to a small living room with sofa and table and a comfortable shower room whilst upstairs there is a small double bedroom with a large terrace and splendid views over the valley. This really is quite a unique place to sleep.
Outside, there are charming, mature gardens at this 5 bedroom Tuscany villa. Within a large lawned area and surrounded by a terrace, there is a swimming pool (12 metres x 6 metres and with a depth of 150 cm). Plenty of loungers are provided along with parasols. Nearby is a jacuzzi, making the most of the panoramic views over the valley below.
Steps lead down from this area to a lower garden level where there is a delightful terrace with dining table seating 10, perfect for eating al fresco. The gardens cover an area of nearly 5 acres in total and are carefully tended by the owners. Guests are welcome to help themselves to the fruit from the peach, plum and olive trees when in season.
For those who prefer a more active stay, there is a small five-a-side football field at this 5 bedroom Tuscany villa as well as a table tennis table. Oak woods surround the property and there are plenty of paths allowing you to explore these in more depth.
